Family Promise of Gainesville seeks students to work on seven projects to benefit homeless families with children. Projects will take from 30 to 45 days to complete. There is one additional long-term project that takes place in the fall semester.
Restaurant Sponsorship Nights. Many restaurants offer nonprofit groups an opportunity to host a "Restaurant Night" fundraiser through which the restaurant agrees to donate to our cause a percentage of the sales on a designated night for all of the customers that our organization brings to their business. As a Family Promise intern assigned to these projects, you will gain valuable marketing and event planning skills.
Radio Marathon. Similar to the Labor Day Marathon, a radio station or stations will promote Family Promise throughout the day, and listeners are encouraged to support out mission with donations. This is an annual event.
Fun Run/Walk. A mile or 5K event that promotes Family Promise. Can be held in a public park or at on of the host congregation grounds. Involves current volunteers and community members. This is an annual event.
Monthly Mixers. Every other month an infomal gathering promoted at a restaurant, or other venue and volunteers and community members are invited to visit with Board members and Staff.
Ultimate Car Wash. A series of car wash events community wide that promote Family Promise and generate proceeds to support general operations.
Family Promise Open House. Includes tours of the Family Promise Daycenter and, as available, tours of host site facilities at each of the host congregations in the network.
Fore the Families Golf Tournament. Annual event, held last year at UF Golf Course, to benefit Family Promise operations. This event has taken place for the past 13 years.
